Holland Festival
Welcome to the Holland Festival 2023! The festival will take place from 1 June to 1 July at various locations in Amsterdam. For this edition, we have put together a varied programme with theatre, music, dance, opera, musical theatre and multidisciplinary performances from all over the world.
Welcome to the Holland Festival
The 2023 Holland Festival, the leading international performing arts festival founded in 1947, will take place in Amsterdam from 1 June through 1 July. Artists from all over the world will show artistic innovation and experimentation in ground-breaking pieces performed nowhere else in the Netherlands: from theatre, dance, music and musical theatre to multidisciplinary forms and cross-overs with visual art, photography and film.

The Elders
At the initiative of associate artist ANOHNI, a number of performances during this festival edition begin with a small intervention in the form of a poem, personal reflection or dialogue, brought by an 'elder.' These 'elders' are older, and well-respected individuals from Dutch society who, in a casual, self-chosen way, hope to deepen the bond between artist and audience, make the audience aware of their responsibility to the artist, validate the urgency of the performance, and place all in attendance in the here and now of a unique, shared moment.

The associate artist for the 2023 edition of the Holland Festival is singer, composer and visual artist ANOHNI.The festival will feature both new and existing work by the associate artist.

festival centre De Balie
This year, the festival centre in De Balie is the Holland Festival's base of operations. Here you will find everything you need: the festival box office (from 15:00 to 19:00), service and Friends desk and unique HF merchandise. In the café-restaurant, you can have lunch, drinks and dinner all day. More of a morning person? Then come and enjoy breakfast during the Detox Mornings and get carried away by an artist's morning ritual.
