Can you make just the wrapper filled with nutella beforehand and fry it whenever I need? If so, do I refrigerate it or freeze it?

    • Dina says

Hi Sharada 🙂 You should be able to make these ahead and have them sit for a few days in the refrigerator until you fry them. I have not tried making these ahead so I am not too sure how they will turn out. If you give it a try let me know 🙂

You’re welcome Irina. Most grocery stores have them. They are usually found in the refrigerated Asian food section. I always see them next to the spring roll wraps and tofu.

These look delish!!! Quick question, do u flip them when frying? Or put enough oil to submerge them completely?

Hi Olesya, I don’t flip them. They cook to fast for me to even flip them. Just make sure there is a good amount of oil. About 1 inch should be enough.

FAQs

What do you do with Nutella spread? ›

Simply spread Nutella® on top of a croissant, waffle, crepe, pancake or piece of toast. Enjoy a special breakfast with Nutella® with your family, and watch how the magic of Nutella® transforms a simple morning into something extraordinary.

Do wontons get soggy? ›

Nobody likes a soggy Fried Wonton, and there's a great trick to getting the wrapper ultra crisp. Instead of sealing the wrapper shut like an envelope with water, you leave the majority of the folded wrapper unsealed, using just a dab of water to pinch the ends together.

How do you reheat wontons in the air fryer? ›

They will no longer be as crispy when they cool but you can easily reheat them in the air-fryer until crisp again. I reheat mine for 5-8 mins at 160C/320F or until crispy. You can store leftover wontons in the fridge for 1 week.

Can you reheat wontons? ›

The oven or microwave will work to reheat the wontons, too, but at the expense of that perfect crunch. Plus, the air fryer will cook this snack up quickly, saving you far more time than oven-baking.

Does melted Nutella Harden? ›

If you just drizzle regular Nutella over ice cream it gets a fudgy sort of texture, but melting it with a little coconut oil means it can be drizzled in a thin layer that hardens once it hits the cold ice cream. Keeps well for a month.

How do you keep wontons crispy after frying? ›

The best way to keep fried foods crispy? Just place them on a cooling rack set over a baking sheet. If you're frying multiple batches, throw the whole setup into a low oven to keep everything warm as you keep frying and adding to the rack.

What is the filling in a wonton made of? ›

Wonton filling

There are many types of wonton fillings, but I'd say that pork and shrimp/prawns are the most common. Then there are all sorts of additions, including mushrooms, water chestnuts, chopped up Asian greens and even carrots.

Do you fry or boil wontons? ›

Traditionally boiled then served in soup, Wonton is prevalent throughout China.

How do you make wontons crispy again? ›

Freeze cooled baked wontons in a freezer container, separating layers with waxed paper. To use, reheat on a baking sheet in a preheated 400° oven until crisp and heated through.

Why do my wontons puff up? ›

During the deep frying process, the water in the filling can turn into steam and cause the wonton to puff up and even burst, causing the filling to ooze out, leaving only an empty shell.

How long do you air fry wontons? ›

Spray a little bit of oil to help it crisp. Then air fry at 400°F for 8 minutes or until golden and crispy. Give it a good toss halfway through so it cooks evenly. The results are super crispy wontons, like the texture of potato chips, with a filling that is still nice and juicy!

Are fried wontons good the next day? ›

Keep in mind that fried wontons are best served immediately, but they'll still taste good as leftovers. If you're going to eat them in the next day or two, you can stack them in an airtight container after letting them cool, and separate them with a piece of parchment paper to keep them from sticking.

Can I microwave wontons? ›

Coat triangles with nonstick cooking spray;. sprinkle 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon-sugar mixture over won- tons. Microwave, uncovered, on High for about 1-1/2 minutes or until crisp and browned. Serve warm or cool.

Can you melt Nutella spread? ›

You can quickly melt Nutella by scooping it into a bowl and microwaving it gently. Or if you'd like to melt a larger amount, simply put the jar of Nutella into a bowl of hot water. If you only need a little Nutella for spreading, heat a metal knife or spoon then use it to scrape up the softened Nutella.

Do you eat Nutella out of the jar? ›

Yep! According to one Reddit user, UD_Ramirez, it's all in the way you scoop your Nutella from the jar, and always going from the centre will stop you ever having to scrape dried bits of Nutella from the edge of the jar for good.

Does Nutella spread need to be refrigerated? ›

Nutella® should be stored at room temperature between 18-24 °C (between 64 and 75°F). Keep the container tightly closed and store in a cool, dry place to maintain maximum flavor. Do not refrigerate Nutella®, otherwise it will harden and become difficult to spread.
